Our History
Christian Life Center was started with an apostolic team in mid 1994 which began to meet in the Williamsburg Library Theater for a nine month period. In February of 1995 we moved into a warehouse behind Ewell Station Shopping Plaza. It was there that the Holy Spirit "fell" and blessed us with a time of fresh repentance. The church quickly quadrupled and began to have great impact on the youth of our city. In February of 1998 we moved to a location on Richmond Road while we continued to grow and expand our ministry to the community and those hungry for the Lord.
In the spring of 2000 we moved to our present 16-acre property on Longhill Road. The Lord has continued to be steadfast in meeting the spiritual needs of Williamsburg, in part through His efforts at Christian Life Center.
Our Worship
We worship and celebrate Jesus because of His love, mercy and righteous character, not for what He can do for us in a physical or material way. "True worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for these are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks" (John 4:23). "In spirit" points to the level at which true worship occurs. One must come to God in complete sincerity and with a spirit directed by the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the "truth" (John 14:6), therefore worship must take place according to the truth of the Father that is revealed in the Word of God (John 17:7).
At Christian Life Center we advocate an expression of worship that is not only meaningful and appropriate, but in reality is commanded by the Bible:
Singing (Ps. 47:6; Eph. 5:18, 19)
Lifting hands (Ps. 134:2; 1 Tim. 2:8)
Clapping (Ps. 47:1)
Shouting (Ps. 35:27; Ps 47:1)
Kneeling (Ps. 95:6)
Dancing (Ps. 149:3; 150:4)
Instrumentation (Ps. 150:3-5)
Our Mission (updated March 2008)
Our mission is to lead individuals and families into the presence of God, establish devoted followers in the truth of God's Word and release disciples to advance God's Kingdom locally and then to the ends of the earth.
Our Vision (updated March 2008)
A multicultural, local church patterned after the New Testament that will transform our city one life at a time through the power of the Gospel, purposeful relationships and spiritual multiplication.
Our Faith & Doctrine
Scripture. We believe in the plenary-verbal inspiration of the accepted canon of Scriptures as originally given and that they are infallibly and uniquely authoritative and free from error of any sort in all matters with which they deal, including scientific and historical as well as moral and theological (2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 2:13).
God, Himself. We believe in the Eternal Godhead who has revealed Himself as ONE God existing in THREE persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; distinguishable but indivisible (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
The Universe. We believe in the literal, special creation of the existing space-time universe and all of its basic systems as indicated in Genesis.
Biblical History. We believe in the full historicity and perspicuity of the Biblical record of primeval history, including the literal existence of Adam and Eve as the progenitors of all people, the literal fall and resultant divine curse on the creation, the worldwide, cataclysmic deluge, and the origin of nations and languages at the tower of Babel (Genesis 1-11).
Creation. We believe in the creation, test and fall of man as recorded in Genesis; his total spiritual depravity and inability to attain to divine righteousness (Romans 5:12, 18).
The Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of men, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, very God and very man (Luke 1:26-35; John 1:18; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6).
Christ's Death & Resurrection. We believe Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day, and personally appeared to his disciples (1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Romans 4:25).
Christ's Bodily Ascension. We believe in the bodily ascension of Jesus to heaven, His exaltation and personal, literal and bodily coming again the second time for the Church (John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Salvation by Grace through Faith. We believe in the salvation of sinners by grace, though repentance and faith in the perfect and sufficient work of the cross of Calvary by which we obtain remission of sins (Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:12, 22; Romans 5:11).
Water Baptism. We believe in the necessity of water baptism by immersion in the name of the Eternal Godhead in order to fulfill the command of Christ (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38-39, 19:1-6).
Baptism of the Holy Spirit. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as an experience subsequent to salvation and a distinct aspect of the Christian foundational experience (Acts 2:1-4, 8:14-17, 19:6).
The Gifts of the Spirit. We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit as enumerated in 1 Corinthians 12-14, as manifested in the Early Church.
Spirit-Filled Living. We believe in the Spirit-filled life, a life of separation from the world and perfecting holiness in the fear of God as an expression of Christian faith (Ephesians 5:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14, 7:1).
Healing. We believe in the healing of the body by Divine Power, or Divine healing in its varied aspects as practiced in the Early Church (Acts 4:30; Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 12:9; James 5:14).
Communion. We believe in the Table of the Lord, commonly called Communion or the Lord’s Supper, for believers (1 Corinthians 11:23-32).
Eternal Life. We believe in eternal life for believers (John 5:24, 3:16) and eternal punishment for unbelievers (Mark 9:43-48; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 20:10-15).
Satan & His Judgment. We believe in the reality and personality of Satan and demonic powers and in the ultimate eternal judgment of the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10-15).
